Aristoteles  1, with its moderate slope of 1.6° ± 0.1°, diameter of 6.0 km ± 0.5 km, edifice volume of 1.2 cubic kms, lies near the crater Aristoteles N and belongs to class B2 of the effusive lunar domes.
According to the classification scheme, if the effusion process continues over a long period of time, steep flank slope and higher edifice volume may occur as in the case of B1 domes (most of the Hortensius domes and Herodotus 1), while short durations of the effusion process result in lower edifices of lower volume, as it is the case for the dome Aristoteles 1. The rheologic model indicates a moderate lava viscosity and it formed over a period of time of about 0.6 years.
The magma reservoir feeding the dome-forming eruption was located well below the lunar crust (inferred dike length of 90 km).
